Gala

Each year, the Museum raises much-needed funds at its annual Gala. The event features an open bar, hot and cold hors d’oeuvres, dinner, a silent and live auction, great music and more!

This year's Gala occured Saturday, April 22, with the fun theme of "The Roaring 20s." Cocktails began at 6 pm, followed by dinner and dancing. Over 200 attendees enjoyed music, a silent auction and gourmet catering by the Desmond Hotel. We horoned Larry Murphy, who piloted the famous CH-47 landing on a mountainside rooftop in Afghanistan that was captured in a now famous photo seen below.

To coincide with our Honoree, artist Larry Selman has agreed to do a painting commemorating this historic event, and limited edition prints are being offered for sale. See the .pdf flyer for more details.

The Museum also presented its annual Achievement Award for innovation in rotary wing flight to German-based evolo GmbH for the successful manned flight of its Volocopter VC200. Alex Zosel, evolo GmbH’s managing director, made history by piloting the lightweight fiber composite multicopter over a field in Southern Germany last March. The Volocopter, an aerial vehicle designed for urban mobility, was extremely easy to fly due to its innovative flight control.
