The Museum owns more than 400 models of helicopters and VTOL aircraft and displays them in themes to support its educational programs. Models are rotated as new themes are developed.
Current displays include:
- “Made in the Delaware Valley” – 23 locally-built helicopters from the Pitcairn Cierva Autogiro Company of the 1930s to the current Boeing-Vertical Flight Division, AgustaWestland Philadelphia Corporation, and Piasecki Aircraft Corporation. This honors the extraordinary history of the Philadelphia region as the cradle of rotary wing aviation.
- US Coast Guard aircraft from the early days to the present. This display opened in October 2021 to honor the unveiling of the Museum’s restored USCG Sikorsky HOS-1 Gander Express, the helicopter that in 1946 put helicopters on the map as rescue aircraft in the public’s mind.
- Personal memorabilia and newspaper clippings of one of the USCG mechanics who went to Gander, Newfoundland, with the HOS-1.
