STEM Workshops

The American Helicopter Museum and Education Center hosts several half- and full day workshops for children of various ages. Topics include astronomy, chemistry, coding, and robotics. All workshops are hands-on and conducted by our trained docents and professional mentors.

Drone Design

Ever wanted to build a drone? Now you can! During this introductory workshop, participants will learn about the science behind rotary-wing flight and build drones. For ages 8 – 12. No experience required. $30.00 per participant.*

Astronomy

Join us for a fun-filled evening of stargazing and hands-on learning. The Astronomy Workshop is for children ages 9 to 12. During this two-hour workshop, our expert staff will teach basic astronomy and how astronomers use telescopes. Participants will also do some stargazing with telescopes (weather permitting). Cost is $40.00 per person.*

Introduction to Coding

Join us to start learning computer coding. During this informative three-hour workshop for children ages 8 to 13, participants will be introduced to coding concepts and learn some basic coding. Cost is $45.00 per person.*

Robotics

This all-day Robotics Workshop is for children ages 8 through 13. The cost is $85.00 per child.* This workshop meets the Girl Scouts’ requirements for all three Brownie and Junior robotics badges (not provided).

Lunch is NOT included, but participants may pack a lunch and will have time to eat in the museum’s snack room.

Robot Basketball

Join us for a fun, hands-on robotics workshop! Participants will be introduced to the Little Bits building block system and will build and code an automatic basketball shooter! For ages 8-12. No coding experience required. $30.00 per participant.*

Coding Phone Games

Love to play games on your phone? Learn how to make your own! This two-hour workshop will teach you all the basics of coding smartphone games. For ages 8-12. No coding experience required. $30.00 per participant.*

STEAM Art

Put some Art in your STEM during this two-hour workshop. Participants will learn how to create artistic masterpieces through the magic of coding. For ages 8 – 12. No experience required. $30.00 per participant.*
